Programming Director

 

Become a vital part of a growing arts organization! Are you a strong leader and administrator who is passionate about the arts? The Community Arts Network of Oneonta is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated professional to develop, implement, and evaluate arts programming that is consistent with our organization’s mission and the community’s needs. 

Work alongside CANO’s Executive Director to oversee and coordinate the arts education program, visual arts exhibitions, artistic presentations, and fundraising events. Candidate must feel confident planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and executing program activities.

Qualifications

 

  • Managerial/leadership experience

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team via email and in person

  • Strategic planning and critical thinking abilities

  • Passionate about the arts and community

  • Bachelor’s Degree is recommended but not necessary with experience in the arts and/or administrative duties

  • Proficiency in Google Suites, Zoom, Microsoft Word, & Excel

  • Awareness of DEI and ability to work with a variety of community members

  • Must be able to follow through with tasks assigned by Executive Director

  • Experience in visual art, or other arts, is preferable

  • Experience in fundraising and/or non-profit work beneficial


 

Duties and responsibilities

Work alongside our Executive Director, as well as independently, to:

  • Assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including coordinating artist sales and artist and instructor contracts, and coordinating exhibition and arts education meetings

  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate arts education programming  

  • Manage day-to-day operations of our gallery and art studio with interns, volunteers, staff, and instructors

  • Organize and oversee visual arts exhibitions and events with a team

  • Support pre-existing arts programming, events, classes, and fundraisers

  • Ensure areas stay within their budget

Work schedule is somewhat flexible and some work can be accomplished remotely. However, candidate will be expected to work on site at least 2 times a week. Occasional nights and weekends will be required. $22/hour. 25 hours/wk. Additional hours available, depending on skills and experience.
