The Summer Arts Program is located in CANO Arts Studio carriage house directly behind the Wilber mansion at 11 Ford Avenue.

2026 CANO Summer Art Program for Kids Basics

● The Summer Arts Program for Kids runs Monday-Friday 9am-1pm. CANO does not offer extended care. Students must be picked up promptly. 

● Enrollment for the Summer Art Program begins March 25.

● Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

● Payment is required upon registration to reserve the space. Sign up for 1 or all weeks. 

● Summer Arts Program is designed for children between ages 6 and 11. No children under 6, please. 

● Each week is different, so be sure to register for multiple weeks throughout the summer for an immersive art experience!

Parents of attendees, please read:

● Attendees must bring a nut-free snack every day to eat during a supervised break. Please also provide a water bottle or other beverage for your child

● Parent/guardian must sign child into the summer art program and sign out upon pick-up

● Please let your child stay at home if they are sick. Children with a fever or other symptoms of illness will not be allowed to attend that day.

● Art is messy! Children must wear clothing that can get paint, ink, and other mediums on them. We recommend that children wear closed-toe shoes for their own protection.

● Art mediums and materials are included in tuition.

*Cancellation Policy

A refund equal to half of tuition paid will be granted for cancellations made two weeks before the registered start date. No refunds will be made for cancellations made less than two weeks prior to that date. Please notify us immediately of any cancellations. Full refunds will only be granted if the program is canceled. 

*Disciplinary Policy

To ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, disruptive or dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. While teachers will make every effort to redirect behavior, parents will be called and asked to pick up their child if problem behavior persists. There will be no refund of class fees if a child must leave due to behavioral issues.

*Medical or Other Needs

It is your responsibility to let our teachers know of any medical or other needs that your child has. CANO is not responsible for the administration of medication, wtih the exception of an Epipen (provided by parent) in emergency situations. Please fill the Consent to Treatment form at first day of class.

​​Summer Visual Art Program for Kids, 9am-1pm ​

Week 1: June 29-July 3 History of Music Rocks

with Mark Pawkett 

Kids explore the history of music until now through games, making working musical instruments, performing music, creating visual art  around the world, and listening to music with an introduction to it's cultural context. 

 

Week 2: July 6-10 Magic of Season through Art with Leah McDonald

From the beautiful flowers of Spring to the fluffy white world of Winter, students will explore the four seasons and nature's beauty. Inspired by nature's transformations, children will create art through a variety of  and learn how colors, forms, and textures change from one season to the next. 

Week 3: July 13-17 Arts & Crafts Throughout History with Megan Joubert and Sara Christoff

Explore the history of arts and crafts through a variety of projects utilizing different materials and techniques. 

Week 4: July 20-24 Big & Tiny (Works of Art) with Laura Kitissou

Explore the exciting contrast between super big and super small art! Students will experiment with scale by creating tiny paintings, miniature sculptures, and detailed small dioramas. Then, we’ll go in the opposite direction, working on extra-large collage murals, giant weavings, and oversized paintings. 

Week 5: July 27-31 The Art of Japan with Laura Kitissou

Delve into the vibrant and diverse world of Japanese art! Students will explore traditions and styles ranging from anime and manga drawing to colorful koi fish windsocks, hina matsuri dolls, and shibori tie-dye techniques. Japanese culture, symbolism, and storytelling will be explored while creating their own beautiful and meaningful artworks. 

Week 6: August 3-7 Creative Self-Expression with Megan Joubert & Sara Christoff

There are so many ways to "see" yourself through art. Students will create different self-portraits in varying mediums and push the boundaries of what a "self-portrait" means. 

Week 7: August 10-14 Creature Art with Colleen Jenkins

Students will make various creatures, real and made up, through exploring and experimenting with a variety of mediums such as paint, watercolors and more!

Week 8: August 17-21The Art of Food with Megan Joubert & Sara Christoff

Artists have been inspired by food for thousands of years! Take a trip through art history to re-create works of art inspired by food, learn more about food systems, create artwork using food and more! 

Week 9: August 24-28 Fairy Forest with Megan Joubert & Sara Christoff Registration is FULL

Fantastical creatures, enchanted forests and mythological stories, oh my! Imaginations soar in projects that are inspired by magical realms, fairies and other mysterious creatures. 

Week 10: August 31-Sept 4 Unconventional Materials: Creative Reuse with Megan Joubert and Sara Christoff

Registration is FULL

Students will create art outside of the box using non-traditional and recycled materials as well as found objects.
