Chili Bowl

February 4th 2018, 12-4 pm, we celebrate the 14th annual Chili Bowl Cook-off Fundraiser! Proceeds from your purchase will help CANO to continue fulfilling it’s mission of Linking Artists, Promoting the Arts, & Educating the Community. This annual fundraiser takes place each year on Super Bowl Sunday. Last year, over 460 attended & we raised over $7,900!

Attending the Chili Bowl is not for the faint of heart! You’ll face 3 challenges:

The first challenge is choosing your bowl. A daunting task as there are hundreds of ceramic bowls crafted by local artists lining the walls of the Carriage House Art Studio. Sometimes it’s better to let the right bowl choose you.

Bowl in hand, you face the next challenge — where to start tasting? Entering the Wilber Mansion, you swim through a sea of appetizing aromas, rising from crockpots brimming with the creations of area chefs. With so many chili choices, from traditional to exotic, from mild to four-alarm, you’re sure to find something to please your palate. Save room, though, as there are many varieties of chili to sample. Can you try them all?

The final challenge is choosing your favorite. Much like choosing the right bowl, picking your favorite chili can also be difficult. Your vote is important, however, so choose wisely! There are two prizes at stake: the People’s Choice Award, decided by you, & the Firefighter’s Blind Taste Test Award, decided by a panel from the Oneonta Fire Department.

Join us in creating & decorating chili bowls prior to the event! A special thank you to Doug Hallberg at Carriage House Art Studio for hosting these fun community art parties & for firing hundreds of ceramic bowls! This year he’ll be using a new kiln that was generously donated to CANO.  Chili Bowl Decorating Art Parties @ CHAS
