
April Ford is a queer, bi-national author, editor, and teacher, who shares her time between Canada and the US. Her debut novel, Carousel (Inanna Publications) won in the category of LGBTQ Fiction for the International Book Awards, and is currently a Finalist in the category of LGBTQ+ Fiction for the Foreword Reviews INDIES Book of the Year Awards.
Her other books include Death Is a Side-Effect: Poems (Frog Hollow Press) and The Poor Children: Stories, Winner of the Sante Fe Writers Project Literary Awards Program for Fiction and Finalist for SALT Publishing’s international Scott Prize for a debut story collection. She is a Pushcart Prize recipient for her short story “Project Fumarase,” and has held fully-funded residencies at Ucross Foundation and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
April taught creative writing at SUNY Oneonta from 2012 – 2017 and is now a writing facilitator for at-risk youth and young offenders in Montreal, Canada.
