Curtis Osgood Plays Hammered Dulcimer

Osgood has been performing for over 30 years. His main performance instrument is the Hammered Dulcimer. He also plays guitar, and banjo. With several ensembles Osgood has appeared about NY at coffeehouses, festivals, dance series, historical sites, and museums. He has released 3 CDs; Newfield Sessions, Back Then, and Christmas Memories which features melodies both old and new on hammered dulcimer, fiddle, and piano. Says Folkstuff Publication of Ithaca NY: “Newfield Sessions” has been a long time in gestation and the time has been well spent” Says a reviewer at Dulcimer Players News: “Curt’s dulcimer playing is clear and precise and the interaction between the fiddle and hammered dulcimer is remarkable.” NY. Osgood has performed at the Old Songs Festival near Albany, NY, Walton Theater Coffee House, Roxbury Arts Group, Cranberry Coffeehouse (Binghamton, NY), Six on the Square (Oxford, NY), and at many other venues.
Joined by Annie Simpson on guitar, they share years of collected tune repertoires and technical skills. With their refined listening and playing skills they tastefully weave guitar and hammered dulcimer sounds, moving audiences with numerous musical textures and moods.

CANO’s monthly “Music at the Mansion” series presents a variety of musical talent, beginning with open mic & followed by a featured performance. Free & open to the public. Donations gratefully accepted. CANO’s performance space in the historic Wilber Mansion, with Kawai baby grand piano, is ideal for musicians and vocalists of all ages and experience levels, performing solo, with accompaniment or in small ensemble. Pre-registration is not required for the open mic. Walk-ins welcomed!
Doors open at 6pm…Please arrive by 6:15. Open mic session begins promptly at 6:30 – 7:00pm, followed by a brief intermission & refreshments. The featured performance is approximately 45-60 min. Music@Mansion events are on the 2nd Thursday each month – for May 10, June 14, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, November 8.
